Beware of scams: Protect yourself from fraudulent messages

At Diversifying Group, we're committed to your safety and security. We would like to ask our candidates to beware of a current scam that targets job seekers. Fraudsters may reach out to you impersonating consultants with job opportunities or offers in order to get your personal information or request payment. It's crucial to be vigilant and verify the authenticity of any messages you receive.

Recruitment scams are not always obvious. Here are a few tips on how to identify a fraudulent message:

  • It’s from an unknown phone number, country code or email address.

  • It contains a link; these may contain malware that could be installed on your device so avoid clicking on these.

  • It contains sudden requests for payment or pressure to act quickly.

  • It contains poor spelling and/or grammar.

  • It contains unrealistic salary or working arrangements - if it’s too good to be true it probably is.

For your safety, we strongly advise:

  • Do not respond to these messages.

  • Do not share any personal information, banking details, or make any payments requested through these messages.

  • Report the scam message to your local authorities or the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) through their official website for further investigation.

At Diversifying Group, we might contact you by text message, however:

  • Initial contact will usually be via an email address containing @diversifying.com or via LinkedIn.

  • We never send job offers or requests for personal information via text message to individuals who have not registered with our agency.

  • We will never ask a candidate to pay fees as part of the recruitment process.

  • We have an office phone number on our website, so you can give us a call if you’re not sure of anything.

Stay alert and safeguard yourself against fraudulent activity. If you have any doubts or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly using the contact details below:

Diversity Lens - Issue 180

This week our own consultancy team delivered an exceptional Inclusive Leadership training session to our team. It was inspiring to see a genuine commitment from our leaders and future leaders to proactively embrace inclusive practices. Our trainers did a fantastic job of guiding us through meaningful discussions about the importance of inclusive leadership and explored the qualities and behaviours necessary to become inclusive leaders ourselves.

Everyone got involved with activities, group discussions, and some moments of vulnerability. I came away with a deeper understanding of why inclusive leadership matters and the steps we can all take to embrace it.

QUICK FIRE NEWS

It's the last day of Pride month! We've got a quick quiz for you to do over on our Instagram stories. Let's see how much you paid attention this month ?

LET'S GET INTO IT

Disabled people are finally getting more support on airlines

What's the context?
Airlines have a history of mistreating disabled passengers. They are often not set up to accomodate disabilities or appear unwilling to.

What's changing?
The government is introducing stronger regulation powers to improve standards for all passengers flying to/from the UK. This includes updated guidance to protect disabled flyers, increased compensation for damaged wheelchairs, and stronger enforcement powers when unfair treatment occurs. This comes after a review found that disabled passengers “were not always, in our view, fully considered."

Is this enough?
This is a really encouraging step forward but it remains to be seen how quickly and effectively change will be implemented. The hashtag #RightsOnFlights is being used to aggregate evidence.

The 2023 Global Gender Report is here

What is it?
A yearly report that records the current state and continued evolution of the gender pay gap across 146 countries.

What's happened this year?
The gender pay gap has improved slightly, however the overall rate of change has slowed down significantly, with gender pay parity rising from 68.1% to 68.4%. At this rate it would take 131 years to reach gender equal pay.

No countries included in the report have reached full pay parity, but nine of the top ten countries have closed their gaps significantly (80%). Iceland remains the only country to have pay parity of more than 90%. The UK sits at number 15 with 79.2%.

There's a competition in South Korea where competitors do nothing

In the Seogwipo Forest of Healing in South Korea’s Jeju Island, competitors gather, sat in silence with vacant faces. This is the Space-Out Competition, held yearly, where for 90 minutes participants must be as zen as possible and are later judged on how stable their heart rate remained.

Why are we talking about it?
In our modern, fast-paced world of hustle culture and hyper productivity, we think this is an awesome reminder to slow down and embrace doing absolutely nothing every now and then. Visual artist Woopsyang, who organises the event, sees it as "a visual juxtaposition between busy urban residents and the idle participants."
How would you do in a competition to do nothing? ?
I'd smash it
I can't sit still for more than 5 minutes
